In preparing to launch Folio’s new website, this project – for Somerset-based printer Opal Print Limited – continues to remain at the forefront of our thoughts.
This was a project that drew upon the most truly comprehensive selection of Folio’s portfolio of services, as well as going on to win recognition across both print and creative industry annual awards events.
The 360pp main publication (of which there were two issues) comprised thread-sewn sections with the thread-sewn binding left exposed for a pleasing visual effect.

This was accompanied by a family of five stitched/stapled monographs (of between 36pp and 60pp pagination), with the stapled spine of each publication having fabric binding tape added by hand to emphasise the attention-to-detail aspects of the project as a whole.

In addition, each of the two main publications came with a small pocket-sized booklet that was singer-sewn along the spine.

As if that wasn’t enough of a test for our production management, all running on Folio’s plant all at the same time, we also die-cut and made up a pocket wallet to enclose a set of ten postcards which was to be given away to initial purchasers of the publications.
…and even then, there was one more step as Folio also had to shrinkwrap a variety of different bundles of the publication for shipping to purchasers of the collection from all across the globe.
